Individual talent and commitment is what will get you into Columbus college of Art and Design. The most talented and gifted artist from all over the world come to columbus to experience a more professional and quality education. Once you come to CCAD there are two living options: living in the residency dorms or living off campus. How do you decide? There are a few key points to look at when considering. How well you live with other people, cost, and studious behaviours.
First, do you get along well with other people around you? A single residency hall for around 1,300 students would not be a great place to live if you did not enjoy being around people.
So where do you go if you want to live off campus? There are many options for a great place to live. A great communitty for living for an artist would be Short North. Art shows and festivals display the artist spirit here. With enough condos, apartments, lofts and townhomes to accomadate a new world.
There is also Italian Village, German Village, Victorian Village, and The Arena District. All of these areas would be great to live and to experience.
College can be quite a drain on your financial standing. For a year at CCAD it is around 34,800 dollars to attend. Out of that 34,800 room and board alone stands at about 7,000 dollars. So why not branch out and live off campus. If you split the cost with a roomate your savings will be overwhelming. If you alone lived in an apartment you would save 2,500 dollars. If you split a loft with someone your savings would be less than that but it would be more pristine than an apartment. If you rent a house around town and live with your friends you can each pick up things that you would need like utilities, food, and cable or any wants. It is amazing how much you can save by renting with a few friends.
Dorms can be cramped if you with a few people being in them. They are also very loud and you must share bathrooms with other strangers you might not know. How uncomfortable does that sound? The most important thing though is that you must focus on your studies. How can you do that when there is a party down the hall blaring music so loud that you can feel the beat?
If you live off campus you have your own space to do any studing that you may have to making it a lot easier to get your work done. After the first year statistics show that 75 percent of all students live off campus and its not to just be more independent or mischevious it helps in school.
So if you have the commitment and talent to be accepted to the Columbus College of Art and Design I suggest you look for an off campus residency. It will both help you study and become a better adult in the real world. A great way to find locations to live is through your school or the internet.
